Parasternal long
- Probe at L of sternum, ~3rd intercostal space, indicator pointing to pt's RIGHT shoulder

Parasternal short
- Rotate 90 degrees to parasternal long in same position - indicator to pt's LEFT shoulder
- Translate probe along heart axis to look at different LV cross-sections

Troubleshooting
- Can roll patient on L side to bring heart closer to surface
- Difficult on obese pts (body wall) and small pts (small rib spaces)...
